2010 Annual Scientific Meeting

BAHA Hands-on Workshop

The 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting was held June 25-26 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. The meeting highlighted keynote addresses by Margaretha Casselbrant, MD, who spoke on the Management of Otitis Media, Barry Hirsch, MD, who lectured on Stereotactic Radiosurgery in Otology, and Jack Krouse, MD who discussed Otolaryngologic Allergy. 

The meeting featured additional lectures by Patrick Barth, MD, Karen Zur, MD, Grant Gillman, MD, and Brian Broker, MD, who addressed the business of medicine in a session entitled, United We Stand: Ways to Organize Your Practice into a Larger Group for Improving Quality and Reimbursement.  Participants were also able to enjoy panel discussions on the issues facing otolaryngologists today, and a hands-on BAHA workshop.

Awards Presented at 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting

Each year, candidates are considered for awards to be presented at the PAO-HNS Annual Scientific Meeting, and this year’s awards went to very deserving recipients.

The Citation for Distinguished Service was presented to John Nicotra in recognition of his dedicated service as an advocate for patients and his efforts in patient-oriented head and neck cancer research.

The Community Service Citation was presented to the Honorable Susan Helm in recognition of her work as a member of House Professional Licensure Committee, and for her continual and dedicated support of the physician community and maintaining the highest standards of quality patient health care in Pennsylvania.

Neerav Goyal, MD, MPH was the recipient of the 2010 Francis W. Davison Award for his paper entitled, “Differentiation of Benign Neck Cysts and Cystic Adenopathy using CT Imaging.”

Eelam Adil, MD was the abstract poster award winner for her poster, “Location of Airway Obstruction in Laryngomalacia.”
