2012 Abstract Submissions

2011 Scientific Meeting

The 2011 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Pennsylvania Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery was held June 17-18 at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort. The meeting highlighted keynote addresses by Peak Woo, MD, who spoke on the Lasers in Laryngology and Bronchology, and Gregory Weinstein, MD, who lectured on Perspectives in the Evolution of Treatment of Oropharyngeal Carcinoma.

The meeting featured additional lectures by John Lee, MD, Lisa Elden, MD, Maurits Boon, MD, Steven Coutras, MD, and Ryan Soose, MD, who all presented “mini-lectures” on sleep-disordered breathing.  Attendees also heard presentations during the Laryngology session from Robert Sataloff, MD, and John H. Krouse, MD, as well as a panel presentation on challenging Laryngology cases.  The Head and Neck Session focused on oropharyngeal cancer and featured lectures by Harry Quon, MD, David Goldenberg, MD, and Miriam Lango, MD, as well as a panel on the Contemporary Management of OPC.

Abstract Awards for the 2011 Meeting

Cheryl MacKechnie, MD, was the recipient of the 2011 Francis W. Davison Award for her paper entitled, “The Mechanics of Conductive Hearing Loss: Does Tuning Fork Material Matter?”

Raymond L. Chai, MD, received the first runner up award (Oral presentation) for his paper, “Congenital Choristomas of the Oral Cavity in Children”

David A. Gudis, MD, was the abstract poster award winner for his poster, “Allergic Fungal Sinusitis Presenting with Bilateral Sixth Nerve Palsy.”
